Heart will jumpstart the Fair as they perform on opening night, Thursday, Aug. 1. Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson first showed the world that women can rock when Heart stormed the charts in the ‘70’s with hits like “Crazy on You,” “Magic Man,” and “Barracuda.” They continued topping the charts through the ‘80’s and ‘90’s with hits like “These Dreams” and “What About Love.”
More than 35 million albums later and 35 years after their first big hit, Heart was back in on the Billboard charts in 2010 with their “Red Velvet Car” album. 2012 brought not only a new album, but also an autobiography and a performance of “Stairway to Heaven” during the Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Led Zeppelin that brought the audience to its feet.
The year also brought well-deserved honors including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on April 18, 2013 and broadcast on HBO in May.
Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience will open the show at 7:30 p.m. Bonham is the son of famed Led Zeppelin drummer, John Bonham. Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart first met Bonham when he performed with them at the Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Led Zeppelin.
In addition to a full set of Heart classic hits, fans will experience a special thirty-minute tribute to Led Zeppelin from this historical pairing to finish the show.
Tickets for the Heart show with Jason Bonham are $35 and $25.
All Main Stage tickets INCLUDE FAIR ADMISSION when purchased prior to entering the Fair Park.
