WISCONSIN STATE FAIR DAIRY PROMOTION BOARD Any Wisconsin resident who will enroll in or is currently enrolled as a full-time student in a two or four-year Wisconsin school or short course program and is pursuing a dairy-related or food science degree is eligible for scholarship consideration. PREVIOUS RECIPIENTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY. All applicants are required to submit an application electronically no later than APRIL 2, 2012. Save the file as LAST NAME, FIRST NAME.DOC and e-mail to: katzman@idcnet.com using the subject – Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Promotion Board Scholarship Application. HAND-WRITTEN APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.Applicants will be evaluated on scholastic achievement, involvement and leadership in ag-related activities, and career plans. The scholarship committee will select finalists from the eligible applications received. Finalists will be interviewed, with the recipients to be announced at the 2012 Wisconsin State Fair. Recipients are required to attend the scholarship presentations, which will take place on Thursday, August 2 at the Blue Ribbon Cheese & Butter Auction and on Saturday, August 4 during the Dairyland Youth Celebration. Scholarship recipients must continue enrollment in the suggested curriculum and maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher and a major GPA of 2.75 or higher or forfeit scholarship monies. | 2011 DAIRYLAND YOUTH CELEBRATION Date: Saturday, August 6 Time: 2 p.m. Location: Coliseum The Dairyland Youth Celebration, which celebrates the achievements of Wisconsin State Fair junior dairy exhibitors, provides an exciting conclusion to one of the largest and most competitive junior dairy shows in the world. Since the event started in 2007, we’ve raised close to $35,000 for dairy youth and dairy-youth programs in the state. HOUSE OF MOO The House of Moo, located in the dairy barn, is a hands-on, dairy education center that builds public awareness of Wisconsin's $20.6 billion dairy industry. The exhibit, which reaches nearly 200,000 fairgoers annually, celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2008 with a new look. MILKING DEMONSTRATIONS Milking demonstrations are held four times a day at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Wisconsin State Fair Milking Parlor.
