Wisconsin State Fair Park is an agency of the State of Wisconsin. The Fair Park staff and the operations at the Park are overseen by a Board of Directors, comprised of 13 individuals representing various communities, industries, and members of our State legislature. The board is led by a Chairperson appointed by the Governor of Wisconsin. A diverse variety of events take place at Wisconsin State Fair Park each year. The annual Wisconsin State Fair, presented by U.S. Cellular, and Harvest Fair are the two signature events produced by the staff of the Fair Park.
Numerous other events are held at the Fair Park and the entities operating at the Fair Park including the Pettit National Ice Center, Wisconsin Exposition Center, and the country’s oldest and most historic raceway, The Milwaukee Mile. Some of these entities are operated by management teams independent of the Fair Park and of each other. In addition to events hosted at the three aforementioned facilities, the Fair Park welcomes promoters of independent events ranging from auctions, agriculture and animal shows, and flea markets to motorcycle training schools, seasonal celebrations, and philanthropic events, all of which occur at the multi-use facilities located throughout the Fair Park.
In addition, the Tommy G. Thompson Youth Center bustles with activity over the 12 months of the year with activities ranging from youth dances, training activities, blood drives, and much more. In addition to offering banquet and meeting rooms, the TGT Youth Center has dormitory rooms available for rental for overnight stays. The facilities are utilized by everyone from Olympic hopefuls training at The Pettit to youth groups taking part in music, sports, agriculture and animal shows.
The most prominent of all events at the Park is the Wisconsin State Fair, presented by
U.S. Cellular. The 11-day event featuring affordable, family fun is one of the state’s largest attractions and summer destinations. A celebration of live entertainment, food, horticulture, textiles, crafts, and culinary competitions, and of course, the state’s largest industry, agriculture is enhanced by rides in the spectacular midway and kiddie kingdom, a sky glider, giant slide, and a multitude of attractions and activities. Each year, the Wisconsin State Fair opens its gates in late July or early August and welcomes nearly one million people for the best 11-days of summer! |
